Auntie Annie's Cottage

Ground Floor

Whilst we have tried to bring Auntie Annie's Cottage into the 21st century we have tried to maintain all its charm that its age brings. Here is the  lounge/dining room/kitchen and amenities, including: electric hob and oven, microwave and fridge. The lounge has a large comfortable sofa, a leather bucket chair, dining table and chairs. A TV with Freeview/DVD/CD player can be found alongside a payphone. The  feature woodburner makes it perfect  for those romantic evenings by the fire  should the weather turn colder. In colder weather we shall leave coal etc for your first fire but further coal or logs can be purchased from local shops detailed in our booking letter.

A door leads from the kitchen to an annex with a new separate downstairs toilet with a wash basin and W.C.

First Floor

Firstly, a double bedroom with a feature stone wall and a beamed ceiling. A double bed with a new pocket sprung mattress, ensures a good nights sleep. A seat beneath the sash window provides a view over the harbour by day and night. A travel cot is also available.

The bathroom was new in July 2009, complete with a top of the range boiler,  there is a full size bath and Mira power shower. It has white  tiling and is painted white, with a washbasin, W.C. and an electric shaver point.

Second Floor

A staircase leads to an attic bedroom with two single beds. This room has a delightfully bright aspect provided by the velux windows. For the romantics, there is a smugglers window offering views of the lane leading to the cliff tops.

Outside

Beside the front door, there is a “bink”. This is the local name for the stone seat where you can sit, relax and watch the world go by, or paint whilst you enjoy the views. The cottage and bink is featured in a famous photo taken by Frank Meadow Sutcliffe, a copy of which is on the mantleshelf above the fire. A car parking space, adjacent to the cottage is purely for Auntie Annie residents and there is a permit for an additional parking spot on the harbour near the life boat house, only a few yards from the cottage, should it be needed.

NB/ This cottage is centuries old and therefore, the steps may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties and young children.

Beamed ceilings throughout and ships timbers. Central heating from night storage radiators also 3 extra radiators worked from wood burning stove.  Electricity (included in the tariff), first supply of fuel in the winter months, bed linen, duvets and pillows are provided but please bring your own towels and teatowels.
